Surgical Consult
There are several ocular conditions that can not be treated in office and require a surgical procedure to treat. If it is determined during your comprehensive eye exam that you would benefit from one of these surgical procedures, Dr. Lyles will recommend the procedure, and our staff can help facilitate scheduling with the appropriate surgeon. We can also co-manage with the surgeon and perform all post-operative care that is needed after surgery.
LASIK
Lasik is an elective laser eye surgery used to correct refractive errors of the eye. Patients usually opt for Lasik when they tire of wearing corrective lenses, such as contacts or glasses. Although there are no guarantees for treatment, the vast majority of Lasik patients report monumental improvements in their vision – many with 20/20 vision. You could be a good candidate for Lasik if you are at least 18 years old
and have had stable vision for a minimum of 1 year prior to surgery.
Cataract Surgery
Cataract Surgery is a procedure performed to treat cataracts. Cataracts generally are a result of an age-related process that clouds the natural lens in the eye. Cataracts can cause blurry vision, light sensitivity and halos around objects. Cataract surgery is an outpatient procedure in which an incision is made on the outside of the eye, the cloudy lens is removed and a clear implant is put in its place.
Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty is a plastic surgery of the eyelids that can help treat defects and deformities of the eyelids. One common defect that we often co-manage is dermatochalasis, redundant or lax eyelid skin affecting the upper eyelids. Dermatochalasis can be a cosmetic concern for some, or it can be so severe that it actually inhibits one’s peripheral vision. Blepharoplasty can help by raising the eyelid to it’s proper position and improving appearance and vision.
